In Matthew chapter 17 verse2-5 We see that momentous time when Jesus was transfigured in front of Peter James and John. Now there were more disciples than these three. So why just these instead of all of them?. These three had absorbed more of the teaching of Jesus than the others. And as such carried more anointing.
Jesus did not have favourites but he knew who he could take to see this. These three would be able to comprehend the fact that Jesus was talking to Moses and Elijah. Also the light that came from Jesus they would be able to stand when it happened. You see Jesus was still a man, but all the glory and light from heaven was within him. That takes some understanding, all four of them were in the spirit so they could understand things in spirit and in truth.
When we worship and read the word in spirit and in truth. That is when we shall understand visions that we have and prophetic words that are given to us. But what about this light that Jesus was filled with, he was the truth and he obeyed his Fathers commands. So he could be filled with the spirit of God and that was the light that shone from him.
Matthew chapter 5. verse 16. Puts it this way, let your light so shine before men that they may see your good works. And glorify your Father in heaven. There it is, the same light, that grows brighter as we delve into the word of God and worship him in spirit and in truth. When we do that the light gets brighter and brighter and will draw people to us.
When Jesus died he was in the grave for three days. In that time he went into the devils kingdom and prowled around until he found the devil. When he found him he saw the devil grovelling and in terror. Jesus was and is pure light and truth, as he went around hell there was this pure light wherever he went. Demons screamed in terror as that pure light lit up their darkness.
And the devil himself the prince of darkness? it was that pure divine light that made him grovel. Now the more we immerse ourselves in the word of God which increases our belief. The brighter that light becomes and dark situations and thought will have to go.
So shine for Jesus today and watch the darkness disappear, it can not stand the light! Amen
In John chapter 12 verses 12-19. We find Jesus riding on a donkey and about to enter Jerusalem. His fame had spread around, more so after the resurrection of Lazarus. He was being hailed as the Messiah and King.
The priest standing by and watching this were enraged to hear such things. Little did they know that Jesus was using this opportunity to anger them further so that they would crucify him. He knew that was his divine calling to be nailed on a cross and to take upon himself the sins of this world.
Scripture was being fulfilled in Deuteronomy 18. verse 15. The Lord your God will raise up for you a prophet like me from your midst, from your brethren, him you shall hear. Jesus was more than a prophet, but that is how most of the Jews saw him. Moses was saying this, there were many prophets after him. but none like Jesus Christ, this is who Moses was referring to. Although the priest knew the law they would not recognise who Jesus was.
Jesus went into the temple and turned all commercial things and people out of it. Declaring that my Fathers house is a house of prayer. That was the last straw, the priests had a cut of all this. Now they declared let us kill him and this they did. Giving Jesus the way to defeat the devil in his own back yard!
Now Jesus is alive and his light is shining brighter than ever. If we will let him it will shine just a bright through us. We need to be a people who have that divine light that will dissolve any problem that anybody brings to us. Jesus can and will solve problems that appear so big to any of us.
When we look at the fruits of the Holy Spirit in Galatians 5. Nothing can stand against those remarkable statements. When we immerse ourselves in these. We can truly say that we are an empty vessel that God can use.
